Chapter 6. Using CMMI Models

The complexity of today's products demands that an integrated view of systems and software engineering be used. CMMI reduces the cost of process improvement efforts across an enterprise that depends on multiple disciplines to produce products or services. To accomplish this, CMMI provides common terminology, common components, common appraisal methods, and common training materials, regardless of the disciplines involved. This chapter describes how organizations can use CMMI models for both process improvement and benchmarking
