You probably can’t go wrong with the most popular tool. It’s certainly strong in many areas and has a full suite of tools to support your development, especially in areas such as requirements management and configuration management. Rational has other UML tools, such as Rose R/T and Rational XDE, that are also worth looking at. With IBM owning Rational, things may change, but for now, it’s the market (and marketing) leader. Choose Rational’s tools if you’re conservative or need the full software development environment.
