The Data Build program is used to convert data from a non-HP NonStop system and to load the converted data into a NonStop-system format file. Data Build also loads data from a flat file or an Enscribe file to a NonStop SQL table. Data Build is more efficient than the standard SQL load process.
Data Build creates a COBOL85 conversion program that reads files containing the input data and loads the output data via one of Data Build's conversion procedures. After Data Build creates the COBOL85 conversion program, the COBOL85 conversion program is run to convert and load the input data into NonStop format files.
Data Build uses the concept of a fileset for every input file to be converted. This fileset consists of the following:
Input file
Source Record Descriptions file
DDL Record Descriptions file
Output file (either Enscribe or NonStop SQL table)
Data Build is a Pathway application. The default Pathway name is $DBLD1. Data Build is normally installed to a location as specified in the installation routine. It may be located anywhere on the system. Two subvolumes are created:
Application subvolume
SQL catalog subvolume
BP-FILE-DATABLD-01 Data Build <subvol >.* should be secured "UUNU".
BP-OPSYS-OWNER-03 Data Build <subvol >.* should be owned by SUPER.SUPER.
BP-OPSYS-FILELOC-03 Data Build <subvol >.* resides in $SYSTEM.<?>.
BP-FILE-DATABLD-02 Data Build SQL<subvol >.* should be secured "UUCU".
BP-OPSYS-OWNER-03 Data Build SQL<subvol >.* should be owned by SUPER.SUPER.
BP-OPSYS-FILELOC-03 Data Build SQL<subvol >.* resides in $SYSTEM.<?>.
If available, use Safeguard software or a third party object security product to grant access to Data Build subvolumes only to users who require access in order to perform their jobs.
BP-SAFE-DATABLD-01 Add a Safeguard Protection Record to grant appropriate access to the Data Build <subvol>.
