CONCEPTS SUMMARY

Chapter Learning Objectives

  • To see variables, iteration, and conditionals in another programming languageand to recognize them as understandable.

  • To be able to use a little JavaScript in Web pages.

  • To be able to handle events in JavaScript.

What do other programming languages look like? That question may be occurring to you now. You might also be champing at the bit to do some programming with things you've heard about, such as Web page programming. In this chapter, we do a little bit of each of these by introducing JavaScript, which is a programming language that can be embedded within Web pages to allow control of HTML and pieces of Web pages through programs. JavaScript isn't the same language as Java, but they do have many similarities.
