Summary

[ LiB ]

Forms are an important part of the web developer's toolkit, crucial to exchanging information with site visitors. In this chapter, we covered how forms work to capture data on the web and process it, as well as the basics of the HTML code used to build forms, and how to use Dreamweaver to quickly add forms and form elements to an HTML document. We looked at making forms accessible, how to dress them up with CSS, and how JavaScript behaviors can enhance their functionality.

Of course, this is only the front end of form development. The back endconnecting the form to the application needed to process itis obviously crucial. You're encouraged to see this book's chapters on using server-side languages (Chapters 2126) and to look into using the many available Perl CGI scripts and the wealth of information on CGI on the web.
