To further build on the skills you have learned so far, here is an exercise you can use to test yourself. The answers are provided in the back of the book in Appendix A, but keep in mind, there is always more than one way to accomplish a given task, so if you choose to do things a different way and the results display the way you want, more power to you.

Try modifying your php files in the following ways:

1. Create a very simple home page using the word processor as part of Office and then save it as an HTML file so it can be easily viewed by both Microsoft and Netscape browsers.

2. Use the browser shipped with Fedora to open the HTML home page that you created in Exercise 1.

3. Using a tool provided with Fedora, extract tracks from one of your favorite music CDs and save them to an electronic format that can be played from disk without the need to have the CD loaded in the CD drive.

4. Considering that the files you extracted in Exercise 3 can take up valuable disk space, use a Fedora utility to compress them into a single archive and thus free up some disk space.
