Summary

Team-Fly

SAP's BOR and its connection with BAPIs provide a standard method for accessing both SAP data and functionality. As you have already seen, this standard connection can be used for systems that are external to SAP, such as Java applications. BAPIs are currently based on RFCs, and the transaction BAPI can be used to determine which BAPIs are available, and their calling parameters. The development of a BAPI is similar to the development of a standard SAP function module. You must include required fields, follow a few rules, and make sure that the BAPI is implemented in a way that is consistent with the way SAP sets up its BAPIs.

Chapter 21, 'BAPI Collection,' contains an overview of BAPIs that are available as of SAP release 4.5B.
