Using Restore Area Management

A restore area is a location where a post office has been restored from backup. There's no set procedure on how you configure restore areas. You might want to create one per post office. Or you can just create restore areas on demand. When there's a need to restore something, and you've restored a post office from backup, you come here to define a restore area.

The following are the fields available in the Restore Area Management configuration window:

  • Restore Area Directories: Displays the directories in your GroupWise system that have been designated as restore areas for post offices.

  • Description: Select a restore area directory to display any information entered in the Description field when the restore area was created. To modify or add a description, click Edit.

  • Create: To create a restore area, click Create. You can create multiple restore areas.

  • Edit: Select a restore area directory and then click Edit to modify the name, description, or location of the restore area.

  • Delete: Select a restore area directory and then click Delete to delete the restore area.

Figure 6.20 shows the window for Restore Area Management and a sample restore area. Restore areas are part of a backup and restore system that is fully explained in Chapter 28, "Restoring Deleted Users."
