Chapter Review Questions

1:

If we utilize the default settings for all cluster and package parameters, will a package be started automatically after a system reboot? Explain your answer.

2:

Would it be a good idea to configure all nodes in the cluster to synchronize their clocks with a reliable time source using the NTP software? If so, is this to assist the cmcld daemon in maintaining reliable timing information for when or if heartbeat packets are transmitted over the network? If not, why are we using the NTP software in a Serviceguard cluster?

3:

If we make a change to an application control file, do we need to use the cmapplyconf file to redistribute the application binary configuration file? If not, are there any additional steps we need to undertake once we update the application control file? Explain your answers.

4:

If we create an application monitoring script, do we need to name all the application processes as Service Processes? Explain your answer. When using an application monitoring script, where in the application control script will we normally execute the application startup routines? Are these routines started up before or after the Service Processes? Explain your answer.

5:

An application is configured with an IP address. The application fails and is moved to an adoptive node. Will clients using the application need to restart their client software in order to recontact the application? What MAC address will be in the ARP cache for the application IP address on the client machines, once the application moves to an adoptive node?
