Who's Using PHP-Nuke? Heck, who isn't? Check out this diverse list of Web sites I found that use PHP-Nuke: http://www.poetry4kids.com A Web site for children's poetry http:://mobility.embo.org The Life Sciences Mobility Portal from EMBO http://protector.warcenter.se The home page of Protector System http://www.toms-home.com The home page for what appears to be a fellow named Tom http://www.xplanefreeware.net A site for freeware related to the X-Plane Flight Simulator http://www.lyricsworld.com A site for finding music lyrics http://www.vg-network.com A site for fans of "vintage gaming," as in old computer games like that Atari you had when you were a kid As you can see from this list, there's quite a variety of folks using PHP-Nuke. And if you check out these sites, you'll see that while they offer similar featuresdiscussion groups, downloads, a search engine, and so forthno two really look alike. Their owners have customized them, using PHP-Nuke's built-in tools to create a site that uniquely represents whatever it is they're all about. They're all using PHP-Nuke as a tool to create an online community centered on their interests, whether that is kids' poetry or old Nintendo games. There are even commercial sites using PHP-Nuke to sell software, computer hardware, and more. From the Fridge I run my own PHP-Nuke Web site, which is how I became interested in PHP-Nuke in the first place. It's called www.ScriptingAnswers.com, and it's a site designed for administrators of Microsoft Windows networks. It has absolutely nothing to do with PHP-Nuke itself, and believe me when I tell you that no few people at Microsoft have commented on the irony of me hosting this Windows-oriented Web site on a completely non-Microsoft platform using non-Microsoft software. Oh, well. By the way, it's not that you can't run PHP-Nuke on a Microsoft server. There are versions of PHP for Microsoft's IIS Web server, and you can install and run Apache Web servers on Windows as well. It's just that I was looking for an inexpensive hosting solution, and those pretty much are all Linux-based since Linux doesn't cost anything. |
