This chapter investigated some of the more advanced and less commonly used functions associated with Sockets programming. In addition to multiplexing communication with select, we investigated name resolution and service identification. The notion of sockets options was briefly discussed in this chapter. The next chapter provides a detailed look at the various sockets options and how they can be used to change standard socket behavior.
