Final Thoughts

In this project you have executed a common marketing layout: the brochure. Although a brochure can take different forms, you have created a two-fold, three-panel marketing piece you will be able to use repeatedly. Important concepts to remember include

  • One of the key features of this project includes making the most of two colors. Not only is this discussed from a production/cost perspective, but it also is accomplished by tagging images (both the foreground, which is the image itself, and the background of an image).

  • You've used InDesign CS to create simple icons with InDesign by combining basic shapes together with color and text. You can then reuse them throughout the layout or even add them to a company library.

  • Planning for distribution increases the success of your project and one of the considerations we discussed is the selfmailer, for both postal standards and the potential for mail merges.

  • Finally, I introduced creative features such as the text wrap for flowing text around other elements in the layout, drop shadows for creating perspective and depth to your images, and gradients for creating two-color backgrounds.
