Lessons Learned

In This Part:

Chapter 7: Reconstructing A Table-Based Site
Chapter 8: CSS Design Gallery
Chapter 9: Wired News: A Visual Tour

It's well and good to understand CSS technology and aesthetics, but it's going to be difficult to put together great pages without being inspired by the progressive work of other designers and developers using CSS. This part opens with the deconstruction of a working website. The site is then reconstructed, first using a combination of transitional structured markup and CSS, and then going to a complete CSS design with no table-based layouts used whatsoever.

I'll continue by giving you a tour of great CSS sites; you'll also see code and get comments and insight from top designers using CSS. Finally, you'll be inspired by the daring move that Wired News took to help spotlight web standards in general and move CSS specifically into the forefront of contemporary web design.
