IBM Content Manager for Multiplatforms Version 8 (hereafter called Content Manager) is IBM's core offering for managing enterprise content. Conceptually, Content Manager is a repository built using a conventional relational database. To reduce time to build this repository from scratch at the database level, Content Manager allows reuse of the repository and provides a set of tools and APIs that enable a wide range of applications. With its support of a hierarchical object model and higher-level query language, XPath, for data access, Content Manager allows an enterprise to build a content management solution that meets their unique requirements. In addition, Content Manager's flexible programming framework can greatly reduce development effort and time.
