Adding Vertical and Diagonal Text to Documents

Adding Vertical and Diagonal Text to Documents

You can create vertical text in two ways: making the standard text vertical using page layout options, or using the Draw tools available in Writer to create separate text frames that are vertical. See Figure 7-52 on page 245 for an example of making standard text vertical.

  • Make your normal text vertical. Choose Format > Character and click the Position tab. See Figure 7-5 on page 203 for more detail.

  • Use the vertical text Draw tool. See Inserting Frames and Floating Frames on page 297.

  • To have text to goes diagonally across the page, just create a text frame. Select it, right-click and choose Position and Size, click the Rotation tab, and rotate the frame 90 degrees. Close the window. Then right-click again and choose the kind of Wrap you want. See Figure 7-53 on page 245.
