Making Exact and Modified Copies

Draw provides multiple tools to copy and duplicate objects; some allow you to do so quickly, while others provide you precise control over size and positioning.

Copying Objects

  1. Select an object using the arrow-shaped Select icon (active by default) and choose Edit > Copy.

  2. Move to the drawing where you want the copy, if necessary, and choose Edit > Paste.

Note

The object may appear on top of the original; if so, move it to the side.

Duplicating Objects

You can duplicate quickly, or with more options.

Quickly Making One Copy
  1. Select the object.

  2. Choose Edit > Duplicate.

  3. In the Duplicate window, choose OK.

Advanced Duplicating

You can control the number of copies, the location to which they are moved, rotation, size change, and color change. For example, the original on the left in Figure 30-29 was rotated , enlarged, and changed in color through five copies.

  1. Select the object.

  2. Choose Edit > Duplicate to open the Duplicate window.

  3. Make the appropriate changes (Figure 30-30), then click OK to duplicate.
