Section 17.3. Personalizing Word Options

17.3. Personalizing Word Options

An often-overlooked step in customizing Word is personalizing your copy. If you give Word your name and initials in the Word Options dialog box, the program " knows " who's typing. Your name is most important when you're collaborating with your colleagues using Word's reviewing features (Chapter 16). When you review, edit, and add comments to a document, Word tags your markup with either your name or your initials .

Word may have added your name and initials when you installed the program. To check, go to Office button Word Options. The dialog box opens, showing the Popular settings (Figure 17-5). At bottom right, you see the text boxes for "User name and Initials. If you need to change this informationsay you'd rather use a pseudonym, a nickname, or your company nametype it here.
