You can easily place native Photoshop documents by dragging the .psd file from the SmartObjects folder (or from anywhere on your drive or network) and dropping it directly onto the GoLive page. When the Save For Web window opens, compress the image in the format of your choice and then save it into your site.
If you prefer, you can put a Photoshop Smart Object placeholder on the page first and size it to fit your layout. Drag the placeholder from the Smart section of the Objects palette onto the page and then use the Inspector palette to locate the source file by clicking the Browse button, the small folder icon to the right of the Source field (Figure 146). Figure 146. You can use a Smart Object placeholder and browse to the Photoshop document from the Inspector.
When you select the source file, the Save For Web window opens and displays a version of the image that fits the dimensions of your placeholder exactly. Choose your compression settings and save the Web-ready version of the file into your site. Using this method, you can also choose file types other than PSD to use as the source, such as EPS or TIF.
