Acknowledgments

As you will find with computer networking, networks (like Rome) are not built in a day. And the same goes for a book like this. It really does take a team (sometimes it seems like a village) to create a book that covers a subject matter that seems to change on a daily basis.

First of all, I would like to thank Kim Rich, who took time out from her busy schedule to shoot many of the photos that appear in this book. I would also like to thank the very hard-working Jenny Watson, my acquisitions editor, who assembled the team that worked on this project. Jenny made sure the project stayed on track and is a truly great person to work with.

I would also like to thank Mark Cierzniak, the development editor, who burned the midnight oil to make sure this was the best book possible. He also made many useful suggestions related to the subject matter included in the book. Another big thanks goes out to our technical editor, Mark Hall, who verified the technical aspects of the text and provided expert advice on the material we covered.

I would also like to thank Ben Berg, our copy editor, for diligently cleaning up the text and making a number of great suggestions; finally, a big thanks to the project editor, Sheila Schroeder, who ran the last leg of the race and made sure this book got into print (and into your local bookstore). Thank you all very much!
