Conclusion

ATL Server is mainly intended for server-side use. However, you can exploit the flexible architecture and the performance benefits on the client side as well.

As you learned in this chapter, the existing code supports the most common scenarios of a HTTP client application, and the modular design allows you to easily extend the CAtlHttpClientT class and overcome the limitations of the implementation.

One of the big differences between traditional desktop applications and Web applications is the increased importance of security. Whether you re concerned about customer information, private company data, or even technical intellectual property, security plays an important role in modern Web applications. In the next chapter we take a brief look at some of the key ways you can make your application more secure. We discuss some of the technologies that ATL Server provides support for, and we describe some of the successful techniques we ve used to find security issues.
