On the Mac, Quicken displays an Open dialog, asking for the location of your data file (it assumes that you are upgrading from a previous version). Click Cancel, then choose File > New File. In the resulting Save dialog, give the data file a descriptive name (something more interesting than Quicken Data, such as Carroll Family ), and choose where you want to save it. Quicken comes with a set of categories that will help you organize your finances. You'll learn more about categories in Chapter 2; for now, if you'll be using Quicken for your home finances, just select the Home check box, and if you also plan to manage a small business, also select the Business check box (most people will only need the Home categories). Click Save.
Quicken for Mac will then show you the New Account Assistant. You'll set up accounts in Chapter 2, so for now just click Cancel. |
