Finding and Replacing Text

Keynote allows you to find and replace text on your slides, which is handy when Marketing tells you that they've decided to rename the SuperWidget to UltraWidget half an hour before your presentation.

To find text

1.	Choose Edit > Find > Find, or press . The Find & Replace window appears ( Figure 4.40 ). Figure 4.40. You'll use the Find & Replace window to find text in your presentation.
2.	In the Find field, enter the text you wish to find.
3.	Click Next , or press Return. Keynote finds the text.
4.	To find the next instance of the text, click Next, or choose Edit > Find > Find Next, or press . or To find the previous instance of the text, click Previous, or choose Edit > Find > Find Previous, or press .

Tip

• You can also find selected text by choosing Edit > Find > Use Selection for Find, or by pressing .

To find and replace text

1.	Choose Edit > Find > Find, or press . The Find & Replace window appears.
2.	In the Find field, enter the text you wish to find.
3.	In the Replace field, enter the text you want to replace the found text.
4.	(Optional) For more find and replace options, click the Advanced tab. The Advanced options appear ( Figure 4.41 ). Figure 4.41. The Find panel is also useful for replacing text.
5.	(Optional) In the Find section, choose either (or both) Match Case and Whole Words. In the Replace section, you can choose to repeat the search throughout the presentation file by checking "Repeat search (loop)."
6.	Click Replace to replace the first instance of the found text, Replace & Find to replace the first instance and find the next instance, or Replace All to replace the text throughout your presentation.

Tips

• Keynote will find and replace text that is not only in your slides, but also in the speaker notes. You can limit the search to just the notes by choosing Notes from the In pop-up menu in the Find section of the Advanced tab.

• If you make a mistake when replacing text, you can use Undo to fix the mistake.
