56. Activate Your Digital Editions Account

Before viewing a digital edition, you must first create and activate your digital editions account. To activate your account, you need to establish an Adobe ID or a .NET Passport account. If you plan on reading digital editions on your PDA, you must install the Adobe Reader for Palm OS, available at www.adobe.com/reader, and reactivate your account on your portable device.

1.	Connect to the Internet To activate your digital account and download a digital edition, you must have access to the Internet. If you have a broadband connection (DSL or cable modem), you should have a constant connection. If you have a dial-up modem connection, connect to the Internet before proceeding to step 2.
2.	Download a Free Digital Edition From the Advanced menu, under the Digital Edition submenu, select the Adobe Digital Media Store command. This command opens a browser window that takes you to the Welcome to the Adobe Digital Media Store web page. Click the Preview an eBook link to download a free digital edition.
3.	Activate Your Account After you have downloaded your free digital edition, a web page opens and prompts you to complete the activation process with either an Adobe ID or a .NET Passport. If you do not have an Adobe ID or a .NET Passport, click the button and follow the instructions to set one up. Then click the Sign In and Reactivate button and go through the onscreen prompts to completely activate your account.
