25 Summarize Comments in a PDF

When exporting comments from a PDF document, Acrobat creates a new Form Data Format (FDF) file that contains just those comments. You can then send the FDF file to other reviewers who then import it into a PDF document to view. FDF files are smaller than normal PDF documents and cannot be opened on their own. They must be imported into an existing PDF document to be viewed .

1.
Open a Review Document and Export Comments

From the File menu, select the Open command, locate the PDF document with existing comments and open the document.

From the Comments menu, select Export Comments, To File . This opens the Export Comments dialog box. Navigate to the location where you want to save the comments file and enter a new filename. Under the Save As type drop-down menu (Windows) or Select menu (Mac OS), select the Acrobat FDF Files (*.fdf) type; then click Save .

2.
Send a File

After the comments have been exported to the FDF file, you can send them to other reviewers to import into their PDF documents. Simply attach the FDF file to an email or upload it to a shared server for the reviewer to access. The reviewer can then download and import the file into the PDF document.
