(This feature is available only for Windows users.) The advantage of exporting comments to Word is that you do not have to switch back and forth between the comments in the PDF document and making the changes in the Word document. 1. | Open a Source Review Document and Export Comments to Word From the File menu, select the Open command, locate a Word-based PDF document with existing comments, and open the document. If this document is part of a review process, make sure that all comments are merged into one PDF before exporting them to Word. From the Comments menu, select Export Comments , To Word . Acrobat launches Microsoft Word and displays the Import Comments from Adobe Acrobat dialog box. Read through the How the Import Process Works instructions; then click the OK button to proceed. A different Import Comments from Adobe Acrobat dialog box appears, confirming from which PDF document the comments are being taken and which Word file they are being placed in. Acrobat automatically populates these fields with the open PDF document and corresponding Word document. If you need to change either the PDF or Word document, click the Browse button, locate the correct file, and open it. The dialog box also prompts you to select the type of comments to import: All Comments, All Comments with Checkmarks, Text Edits Only: Insertions and Deletions , and Apply Custom Filters to Comments . At the bottom of the dialog box, you can choose to enable track changes in the Word document before importing the comments. Click the Continue button to export comments. | 2. | Integrate Text Edits If your comments include any text edits, Acrobat allows you to integrate any text changes into your Word document. In the Successful Import dialog box, click the Integrate Text Edits button. This opens the Adobe Acrobat Comments: Change X of X dialog box, where you can choose to either apply or discard the edits. You can also apply all edit changes by clicking the Apply All Remaining button at the bottom of the dialog box. A confirmation box appears, asking whether you want to apply all text changes and skip the rest of the integration process. Click OK to continue. | 3. | View the Results A Text Integration Summary dialog box appears after the comments have been added and any text edits made. The summary includes how many text changes were applied, how many text changes were discarded, and whether any changes remain . Your Word document now has comments and text edits integrated into it, just as if the commenting and editing were originally done in that document. | NOTE | If you try to export comments from a PDF document into a Word document that has been modified or edited since the creation of the PDF, comments and text edits from the PDF might be misplaced or otherwise improperly imported into the Word document. For this reason, be sure to always work with a PDF of the most recent version of the Word document. | |
