Section 5.9. Summary

5.9. Summary

In this chapter, you learned the commands that a day-to-day client user of Subversion needs to know when dealing with her working copy. You saw how to get data out of a repository, using commands such as svn checkout and svn update, as well as how to get data into the repository using svn add, svn import, and svn commit. Additionally, you learned how to query the repository for information, using such commands as svn log and svn status, and learned more advanced techniques such as branching, tagging, and merging. Finally, you saw how to recover a working copy that has become corrupted or blocked.

In the next chapter, you will learn about storing file metadata, using properties. The chapter will show you the mechanics of using the Subversion commands for manipulating properties, and will give an overview of the built-in properties that Subversion uses for special features.
