One of several methods for accessing data within another application. RPC is designed to look for the application first on the local workstation and then across the network at the applications stored on other workstations.
A method for controlling access to an object based on the requestor’s job function within an organization. In other words, if the requestor has a specific job function (or role), then they’re allowed to access the object. This method of maintaining security is an extension of groups. However, unlike groups, a requestor must perform a specific job function
before access is granted. This security methodology began with COM+ applications. It also appears as part of applications based on the .NET Framework.
