Write Blastoff Report (Process Notes 1.3.1)

Write a report describing what was accomplished by the blastoff meeting. The report should include the following items:

  • Context diagram with an explanation of the major decisions that determined the boundary of the system.

  • Stakeholder list showing the stakeholders identified by the blastoff. Also include those people who were excluded as stakeholders, and say why.

  • Developer list naming all people needed to work on this project.

  • Preliminary event or use case list. Show those events/use cases identified so far. This list will not be complete, but serves as input to the first estimates of effort.

  • Top ten requirements as identified by the stakeholders.

  • System terminology as accepted at that point.

  • Major risks. These are to be brought to management's attention.

  • Initial estimate of effort needed to complete the project.

  • Recommendation on whether to proceed. If the decision is not to proceed, include reasons for not proceeding plus changes (if any) that would make it appropriate to proceed.

The requirements skeleton is the first step toward building a requirements specification. Everything that you put in the requirements skeleton is used and built on by the processes involved in building the requirements specification.
