6.1 Review the Test Plan Checklist (TPC)

 < Day Day Up >

This step requires that the Core Team conduct a thorough review of the Test Plan Checklist (TPC). Once the review of the TPC has been completed, it should be reviewed by the Project Manager and the Project Sponsor. Once approval to proceed with the checklist has been obtained, the Test Team should be directed to begin the prompt execution of all of the test cases prepared within each of the respective test plans that were previously completed in Phase IV of the SEP.

It is not uncommon for the Project Manager to appoint someone independent of the Test Team as a Test Monitor. This person is responsible to observe the Test Team and ensuring that the tests are conducted and documented in a professional, logical manner. Appointing a Test Monitor is not something the Test Team should construe negatively. The constant presence of a representative of the Core Team only emphasizes the importance that is placed on the testing effort. When negativity is sensed from Test Team members, it is a good idea to convey to them how important their efforts are to the success of the project and to let them know the Test Monitor is a liaison between them and the Core Team.
