Conclusion

 <  Day Day Up  >

The rollout is when all the previous hard work pays off. It shows that the company has invested the necessary time and money to bring the project to this stage. All that is left to do is get the hardware and software deployed. The speed at which deployment happens is generally slowly at the start, so as to build on initial successes and momentum. It is better to walk out of the starting blocks than to sprint out and trip on your own feet! At the same time, the deployment schedule must be attainable; now is not the time for schedule and/or cost over-runs. Make sure the support infrastructure is ready for the go-live day and the support agreement is in place for the company. Lastly, make sure a support transition book is created and handed off to support.
