About This Chapter

This chapter prepares you to upgrade an existing SQL Server 6.5 or 7.0 installation to SQL Server 2000. In this chapter, you will learn the upgrade options available to you, including how to keep an existing version of SQL Server intact and usable. You will learn the hardware and software requirements for an upgrade. You will also learn how to prepare for an upgrade. Then, you will learn two separate processes for upgrading from SQL Server 7.0, performing a version upgrade and performing an online database upgrade. Finally, you will learn how to perform a version upgrade from SQL Server 6.5.
