Exam Essentials

Understand the company s objectives.     The company s objectives will be based on the requirements defined by the company. These objectives will be based on the security requirements, software installation needs, and user restrictions.

Be able to create a simple design by identifying user requirements.     The design should take into account what the user requires to perform their function. The users will be limited by and controlled by the corporate standards, the employee s job functions, and the job requirements.

Be able to create a simple design by minimizing GPOs.     Settings for GPOs should be condensed into as few GPOs as possible to make computer startup and user logon times acceptable.

Be able to use natural inheritance in your design.     Planning for the inheritance of settings and minimizing the options that change the inheritance of settings will make troubleshooting of GPO problems easier.

Understand the linking options for Group Policy.     GPOs can be linked at the site, domain, or OU level. When linked, they will follow the natural inheritance unless the options for Enforced, Block Inheritance, or Filtering are used.

Identify administrative requirements for creating the OU structure.     All users should be trained on how GPOs function and should understand the company s best practices that are used when maintaining the Group Policy structure.

Be able to create a change management procedure.     GPOs are a vital part of most company s Active Directory implementation. A change management procedure should be put into place so that the changes can be tested and approved prior to their implementation.
