Setting Up a Track for Recording

 <  Day Day Up  >

Now that you have allocated space for your new song, you can begin recording. Let's say you want to record a guitar on track 1. The VS-1680 has a HI-Z guitar input right next to input 8. This input is configured so that you don't have to use any kind of pre-amp if you don't want to when recording a guitar or bass. After the guitar is plugged in, we have to route the input signal to the track on which we want to record. Since we want to record on track 1, we have to route the signal from the guitar HI-Z input to track 1.

  1. Press and hold the STATUS button for track 1. You will probably see track 1's INPUT SELECT button start to flash because that is the default setting for a new song.

  2. While holding down the STATUS button for track 1, press the INPUT SELECT button for track 1 until it stops flashing.

  3. While still holding down the STATUS button for track 1, press the INPUT SELECT button for channel 8. The INPUT SELECT button for channel 8 should now be flashing.

That's it! You're done. At this point, the HI-Z guitar input is routed to track 1.
