TIP 41: Viewing Page Rulers

Here's a small but useful tip: To show rulers on your page in the Layout Editor, simply choose View > Show Rulers (Figure 41). To put them away, choose the command a second time. If you zoom in on the page, the rulers get larger, too (see Tip 32).

Ruler Swooshing

When you turn the rulers on or off on a Mac, they swoosh in or out of the page as an animation with sound. On Windows they just... well, they just turn on and off.

When an object on the page is selected, look carefully at the rulers and you'll see a darker band of gray indicating where the top and left edge of the object lines up to the ruler.
