Software Management

Software Management under SAM uses Software Distributor-HP-UX (I'll call this Software Distributor), which was covered in detail in Chapter 2. SAM is giving you an interface to Software Distributor that allows you to perform software management by selecting the task you want to perform. In the end, all of the same Software Distributor commands are run, so I won't cover those again in this section. The following subareas exist under Software Management in SAM:

• Copy Software to Depot

• Install Software to Local Host

• List Software

• Remove Software

The hierarchy of Software Management is shown in Figure 10-42:

As you can see from this diagram, when you select a task you want to perform SAM is selecting the Software Distributor command to run. Chapter 2 covers many of these commands.
