Applying Text Styles

The last step to complete the Rain section of this project is to apply a text style from the Library to the RAIN text object. Text styles are very similar to gradient presets; however, they are designed specifically to fit on a piece of text, rather than to function as full background gradients. To preview the text styles, all you need to do is select the Text Styles icon in the Library and select the styles in the lower pane of the Library.

1.

Press Cmd-2 to open the Library tab; then select the Text Styles icon in the upper pane of the Library.

2.

Preview the various text styles and choose one that you think will work well for the RAIN text object.

I like the Chrome Text style for this project.

3.

Select the RAIN text object on the Layers tab; then click the Apply button to apply the selected text style to the selected text object.

4.

In the Inspector, click the Style button on the Text tab to view the Style controls.

5.

In the Face controls, open the "Fill with" pop-up menu and choose Gradient, if it's not already selected.

There you have it. You can now apply gradients, text styles, LiveFonts, drop shadows, outlines, and a whole lot of creativity to your projects.
