Appendix B. Server Behavior Builder
In this chapter we moved beyond the preset server behaviors provided by Dreamweaver. Although you can do a lot with Dreamweaver "out of the box," inevitably you will want to perform some kind of customized behavior as you gain more experience designing dynamic sites.
Dreamweaver gives you many tools to help you hand code a new action on your site, and it gives you a lot of help along the way, with code hints and tag insertion tools. You also saw where you can go on the Web to get help on hand coding pages for various server models.
If you think you would want to reuse a custom behavior or you would like other members of your team to use it, you should write your own server behavior. With your own behaviors, you can get less-experienced users to include it on their pages, without their having to know the nitty-gritty of the code you have so carefully crafted.
As an example, you wrote customized server behaviors to read and write a cookie.
