Data access is a crucial component to any application, and SQL provides the bridge and communication to that data. As you have seen, SQL not only returns simple results from individual tables, but it can produce complex data queries complete with filtering, sorting, expressions, and even nested statements. In the next chapter you'll begin putting the knowledge that you've learned about databases and the language that connects to those databases together into an application.
