Week 3. At a Glance
Now that you've successfully traversed the landscape of ASP.NET, you should be fairly comfortable building your own applications and dissecting those that others have built. Today's lesson concentrates on building a complete application from scratch to take you through the entire process.
You will design the application around a fictional company's business model. In this lesson, you will examine this fictional company's requirements, and then you will build the Web application accordingly. Today's discussion recaps many of the lessons you've completed during these past three weeks, but concentrates on the design and development part of the application. You won't spend much time re-learning things that you've already gone over.
There will be a lot of coding in this chapter because you'll have to build everything from stored procedures to ASP.NET pages to business objects and Web Services. Let's get started!
Today's lesson covers the following:
How to properly set up a design for an application's requirements
How to accomplish tasks in a logical manner
Building databases and stored procedures from given requirements
Building business objects that interact with your databases
Determining what UI functionality you need and building it
