Controlling Optional Content

When you created the teacher template at the beginning of this lesson, you defined the table for a list of certifications as an optional region that is hidden by default on pages based on that template. When you create and edit new pages using a template, you can show or hide any optional content areas that were created in the original template. In this exercise, you will prepare to develop the optional content for the Katchie Ananda profile by displaying the region.

1.

In the Katchie.html document, choose Modify > Template Properties.

Tip

The Template Properties option is located near the top of the Modify menu, next to the Page Properties option.

The Template Properties dialog box opens.

2.

Select OptionalRegion1 from the list of names and check the Show OptionalRegion1 checkbox.

The value listed for OptionalRegion1 in the list of values changes from false (hidden) to true (shown).

3.

Click OK to close the Template Properties dialog box.

You return to your document, and the table you created in the optional region on the teacher template is now displayed in the Katchie.html document. Keep this file open for the next exercise.
