Expense is automatically backed up on Palm Desktop every time you sync. Add, delete, and organize your expenses on your PC, and then sync back to your handheld.

Expense makes it easy to keep track of what you spend. Use it to record business travel, hobby income, or just to keep track of your weekly budget.


See where your money goes

If you don't use Quicken or Money to track your finances, but you're curious aboutwherethe paycheck goes, Expense is a great way to find out. Use Expense for a month record everything, right down to quarters that go into vending machines and export to Excel at month's end for an eye-opening portrait of your spending habits.


Enter expenses fast

When you enter a new expense, your handheld defaults to today's date. If you're entering expenses as you make them, you can skip the step of entering the date.


Add notes

Add a note in Receipt Details if you think you might forget the reason for an expense.


Send expenses to Excel

Sync with your PC. Info from Expense is backed up in Palm® Desktop software.

In Palm Desktop, click Expense. Select the entries and click Edit > SendTo > MS Excel.



Create an expense

Tap New to create a new expense. A new entry pops up with the current date. Tap the Expensetype pick list and select a type. Then enter the amount.

Select an entry and tap Details. Select a Category, reclassify the Type of expense, and record how and whom you paid.

The Show Options box pops up when you tap Show. Choose how to sort your expenses, whether or not to show currency, and how to record distance.



Change the default currency

When traveling abroad, change your default currency by selecting Options > Preferences > Default Currency.


Quick summary

To quickly see how much you spent in any type of expense, customize your view to sort by type. Similar transactions are grouped together.


Real Life: Expense

Best friends since college, Ann and Tiffany recently bought a house a "fixer-upper." They're doing most of the work themselves, and hope to sell the house at a considerable profit when they're done. They use Expense to track everything they're buying, from Sheetrock to doorknobs, as well as the services of the electrician and plumber they've hired. In a category called "House," they note who pays for what at the time of each purchase. That way, they can ensure that they're spending a roughly equal amount, and that they'll be able to settle up accurately later on.


Change your view

By default, Expense sorts chronologically. To sort in another way, tap the Show button and select from the pick lists.
