What to Do Next

What to Do Next

  • Review notes taken when you talked with training colleagues in other organizations about their approach to project management training (as was recommended in this section of the preceding chapter).

  • Skim chapter 3, ‚“Getting a Reading on Your Project Management Training Needs, ‚½ to help identify the most likely target audiences for your project management training.

  • Read chapter 3, ‚“Getting a Reading on Your Project Management Training Needs, ‚½ in detail ‚ taking notes to prepare for your project management training needs assessment.

  • Thumb quickly through chapters 4 through 6 to get a feel for where you ‚ ll be going after you ‚ ve done a training needs assessment based on your reading in chapter 3.

The next chapter guides you through what may be one of the biggest challenges in putting together a project management training program: getting a needs assessment that truly reflects the gaps to be filled by project management training in your organization. The most important reminder is to overcome perfectionism. You are very likely to get differing views on training needs and differing ideas of the scope of your training project. Proceed with caution, but keep moving.
