Oracle10g Application Server provides a valuable caching server in addition to its web listener and application-server software. Web Cache (WC) is a caching listener that sits in front of the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) and provides cached content to incoming client requests . This allows for faster delivery of content to clients and reduced processing for the back-end OHS, application server, and database components .
In this chapter, we'll cover the following:
Overview. What WC provides and how to identify the architecture for a system using this component
Configuring WC. How to configure WC to receive and pass requests to the appropriate OHS server
Logging and monitoring. Identify the tools available to log WC usage and performance
Cacheability rules and invalidation . How to set up caching rules for content managed by WC
