6.4. SCSI Troubleshooting

The following list provides solution guidelines for the most common SCSI problems.

  • Check for loose connectors and cables.

  • Verify the location and number of the terminators.

  • Ensure that the bus has at least one supplier of terminator power, especially with external terminators.

  • Verify that no two devices share the same ID.

  • Ensure that all external devices are powered on before system startup.

  • Make a minimal bus configuration with as few devices as possible.

  • Configure the host adapter to use slower bus speeds, if possible.
