Chapter 20: Invocation of WebFaced Applications

Until now I have shown you only one way of invoking your WebFaced application, through the generated index.html file link.

In this chapter I will show you how to pass both static and dynamic parameters to your application. I will also show you how to invoke a WebFaced application from a different Web application. You will also have a chance to use the Java programming tools in the workbench.

The Goal of this Exercise

In this exercise, you will change the way you invoke the WebFaced application. I have split this chapter into three separate exercises:

  1. Passing a fixed parameter value to the WebFaced program

  2. Prompting for a parameter value and passing this value to the WebFaced program

  3. Invoking the WebFaced application from a different program and determining the iSeries host name at run time
