The Companion Web Site

This book offers a companion Web site from which you can get code examples and the sample applications used in the book, including the ISQL Client, BLOB examples, JDBC Explorer using SWING, and a simple RMI-based sample.

All the code is in a single WinZip file that you can download by going to www.hungryminds.com/extras/ and selecting the JDBC 3.0: Java Database Connectivity link. After you download the file, named JDBC30.zip, you can open it and extract the contents by double-clicking it if you have WinZip on your system. If you don’t currently have WinZip, you can download an evaluation version from www.winzip.com. You can use unzip, gzip, or gunzip on UNIX and Sun Solaris if you are working in such environments.

When extracting the files, use WinZip’s default options (confirm that the Use Folder Names option is checked) and extract the JDBC30.zip file to a drive on your system that has about 1MB of available space. The extraction process creates a folder called JDBC30. As long as the Use Folder Names option is checked in the Extract dialog box, an entire folder structure will be created within the JDBC30 folder.
