Chapter 15. The Internet

An Internet connection is standard for most computers today. I believe I can assume that you have experience using the Internet, probably with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Your Linux system can access the Internet. The process is basically the same:

  1. Set up a connection to the Internet. You may have set up your connection during installation. If not, you can set it up now.

  2. Access the Internet using a browser.

If you are using a computer at work, you are probably connected to your company network. The first step above is handled by your company. However, you can connect to the Internet from your home computer. In the past, connecting from Linux was difficult. More recently, many Linux distributions have designed utilities that make connection as simple as it is for Windows.
