Using the Pencil Tool Without Assistance

I l @ ve RuBoard

The pencil tool's Ink mode allows you to bypass the assistance features and draw without correction or shape recognition. Ink mode leaves all the little bumps, twists , and turns of your rough sketch intact.

To use Ink mode to draw irregular, unsmoothed lines:

  1. With the pencil tool selected, from the Pencil Mode pop-up menu, choose Ink.

  2. Move the pointer over the Stage; then click and draw a squiggle (Figure 2.32).

Figure 2.32. Flash turns a squiggle drawn in the pencil's Ink mode (top) into a vector graphic (bottom), with minimal smoothing and straightening of curves and line segments.

  3. Release the mouse button.

Flash recasts the line you've drawn so that it looks less jaggy, but Flash does not straighten lines or smooth curves.
