You may recall the Windows NT Diagnostics tool from Windows NT 4.0. It has been transformed into the System Information tool. Windows 2000 included this tool in the Computer Management tool, but Windows 2003 has placed it exclusively in the System Tools subsection of the Start menu (Start All Programs Accessories System Tools System Information). By expanding the five subsections of System Summary (Hardware Resources, Components, Software Environment, Applications, and Internet Settings), you can obtain detailed information about the status, settings, configuration, and operations of the system. This is a great place to look before adding new hardware or when trying to find out why a device is failing.
