Maintaining Individual Settings with User Profiles

User profiles allow two or more users of a machine to establish individual settings that will be remembered and restored each time they log on. You're free to paint your workspace purple without offending someone else who also needs to use your machine. Nearly all the customizing steps described in this chapter, including screen resolution and color depth, are profile-specific, which means that they affect only the current profile.
